Makerspace

Maker Mondays | 5 - 7 p.m. | Staff is on hand to answer questions. 

Resources we have: 

  • 3 sewing machines (Singer 4452)
  • Ellison die cut machine
  • Cricut Maker
  •  button maker (1.25 inch and 2.25 inch)

To make an individual appointment to use Makerspace equipment, please email your request to [email protected]. A staff member will review your request and respond. 

  • Residents and paid nonresidents only
  • Must sign waiver before using
  • Limited training available on some machines
  • Bringing your own supplies is recommended

Be sure to include: the equipment you would like to use, requested days/times, and your library card number.

Makerspace Guidelines

The following rules govern the use of the makerspace. In using the makerspace, makers agree to the following rules and guidelines. Failure to abide by these rules may result in suspension of makerspace privileges.

Registration and access to makerspace

Resident or paid non-resident cardholders in good standing may use the makerspace. Before the first use, a waiver must be signed. Before each subsequent use, the maker must check in at either library service desk with their library card and photo ID. Makers under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Reservations have priority over walk-ins. 

Using makerspace equipment

The makerspace is self-service. Limited staff training is available on the die cut and button machines only. 
In using the makerspace, the maker certifies that they are capable of using the equipment in a safe and proper manner. Makers agree to pay for the loss of or damage to any equipment due to misuse.
Makers agree that the Duncanville Public Library is not responsible for any manufacturing defects, issues with quality of workmanship, or flaws or failures in materials associated with use of the makerspace equipment.
Makers agree to return all equipment and space to their original state. 
Limited supplies are available, often from donations; it is recommended that you bring your own supplies. 
The makerspace is intended for hobbyist and prototyping purposes only, and cannot be used for mass production. Library staff have the right to determine if a project is outside the scope of the makerspace.
Makers must not create anything unlawful, dangerous, obscene or racially, ethnically, or otherwise objectionable. 
Makers must respect the intellectual property of others and US copyright laws.
The Library is not responsible for any items created within the makerspace.
