The Public Works Department is continuing improvements to the City’s wastewater infrastructure with wastewater main rehabilitation work along W. Wheatland Road. Beginning Monday, September 28, 2026, the right lane of eastbound W. Wheatland Road will be closed beginning near Mercury Avenue and continuing toward S. Santa Fe Trail. The closure is necessary to accommodate heavy machinery and specialized equipment being used for the project.

The City of Duncanville, at the recommendation and in cooperation with Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS), will be conducting ground spraying against mosquitoes on Thursday, September 24, between the hours of 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM, weather permitting. The spraying is being conducted in response to the detection of West Nile Virus in a mosquito trap located in the 75137 zip code. The area being sprayed is south of E. Danieldale Rd., east of Hwy. 67, north of the W. Wintergreen Rd., and west of east city limits.

The Duncanville Public Works Department is currently undergoing clean-up, remediation, and disinfection of a Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) that occurred in the City of Duncanville wastewater collection system on September 9, 2026, caused by construction debris entering the main line upstream during utility construction. The overflow affected a nearby backyard area and drainage easement behind the 600 and 700 blocks of Little Creek Drive.

The Duncanville City Council will not move forward with a proposed November 3, 2026, bond election for a new public safety facility following action taken during a Special Called Meeting on August 10.

Duncanville welcomed the 2026 Leadership Southwest class, launched its smart water meter project, marked Fire Chief Connealy’s retirement, hosted community events, advanced local development efforts and continued City services and programs.
