If all of the below are true, then you can borrow one of our hotspots!
- Live in Duncanville (or have a paid non-resident card)

- No outstanding fees
- 18 or older
It’s really simple…
At the Circulation Desk, please show

You’ll be able to check out the hotspot for two weeks. It can not be renewed. Please bring the hotspot, case, and charging cord to the Information or Circulation Desk. Limit one per household.
If the hotspot is not returned, it will be disabled.
Due to high demand, failure to return or pickup hotspots on time can result in your account’s suspension from ability to checkout hotspots.
To check out an item, all you need to do is take it to the Check Out desk and show your library card.
Most circulating items check out for a period of 3 weeks, including TV shows.
Other materials may only check out for 1 week. Ask a Circ staff member for details.
There is a limit of 25 items per card (brand new patrons are limited to 5), and we do impose the following limits on each patron card:
- Three test prep guides
- Ten DVDs
- Ten junior or teen graphic novels
- One topic kit
E-books and digital audiobooks can be checked out and downloaded from OverDrive Media (or the Libby app) after providing your library card number. Content may be checked out for either 1 or 2 weeks at a time. The best part about ebooks is that they return themselves, which means no late fees.
Overdrive is only for Duncanville residents and paid non-residents.
There’s only one way to renew an item:
Sit back and relax.
Our library system, Koha, does it for you. In fact, it’ll renew your items five times before they’re actually *due*.
F.Y.I.
- if someone else is waiting for the item you have, then it can’t be renewed.
- if you owe fines, then items can’t be renewed.
- some items, like hotspots or Chromebooks, can not be renewed.
First of all: we really appreciate it when you bring our materials back.
You’ve got two options for dropping them off.
Option A:
Come Inside. There’s a drop box just inside the doors at the Check Out Desk.
Option B:
Outside Drop-off. You won’t even need to leave the comfort of your car. Go around to the back of the building and turn on Nance Street and come in the back driveway.
There are two kinds of requests:
1. Requesting something we already have.
- Option A: Call us at 972-780-5050. We can pull the title and hold it for you until the end of the day.
- Option B: Sign in to your library account online.. Once you’ve found the item you want, use the “Place Hold” button. Please give us a few hours before you come in to pick up your request.
2. Requesting we purchase something we don’t have.
- Option A: Call us at 972-780-5050. Please have the title and author. We’ll also need your phone or library card number so we can let you know if we’re able to order it.
- Option B: Sign in to your library account on the catalog page. Then make a Purchase Suggestion. You’ll find that option in the dark blue bar in the middle of the page.
In order to sign in to your library account, you'll need the entire library card number (no spaces) and your PIN (the last four digits of your phone number.)
