You Have the Right to Hire an Attorney

To search for an attorney licensed to practice in the State of Texas, visit the State Bar of Texas website.

Communication is key and will go a long way in ensuring that there are not misunderstandings regarding the details of your case and any agreements made.

1. Know the name, address, phone number, and email address of your attorney.

2. Check the status of your case with your attorney so you know when they will be appearing in court and what agreements they intend to request.

3. Contact your attorney after the court hearing so that they can explain the results of the hearing and any agreements they made on your behalf.

4. Make sure you comply with all of the requirements listed on your court order AND submit proof of compliance to the court office.

The Client-Attorney Assistance Program answers a hotline to help resolve minor issues between clients and attorneys before they rise to the level of sanctionable grievance offenses. If they are unable to help you resolve your complaint, they can advise you how to proceed with filing a grievance.
