DUNCANVILLE, TX - The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for North Texas. In response, Duncanville city staff, who have been monitoring weather developments for days, have begun implementing plans to protect and assist the community.
On Thursday, January 9, the City will activate its Emergency Operations Center (EOC), centralizing efforts to monitor and manage public safety and city services during the storm. City departments will coordinate responses to conditions throughout Duncanville.
To help residents stay safe and warm, the Parks and Recreation Department will open a Warming Center at the Duncanville Recreation Center (201 James Collins Blvd) on Thursday and Friday from 6:30 AM to 9:00 PM and Saturday, if needed, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Visitors are encouraged to bring supplies like phone chargers, water, and snacks. Membership fees will be waived during this period.
Republic Services, the company that provides solid waste pickup services for the City of Duncanville, has notified staff that they will not be running residential routes on Thursday, January 9, 2025. The Thursday route will be collected on the next collection day, Monday, January 13, 2025.
